of Remains

it was damp and dreary
that day at the Crematorium
Dreich if you bide in these parts
Lumps of coal littered the
greasy tarmacadam
Some carried umbrellas,
one or two wore sou’westers
Most; are silent and sombre
All but a few, shivering
dreich memories on a dreich day
Some ‘Likely Lads’ dwelled
upon school-boy antics
and times down the pub
Others wondered why they
were there? ‘Never liked him that much anyway.’
Later,
much later at ‘The Rock.’
The ashes were scattered
Haphazardly

Life’s loose change ..
